Changemakers  is an ongoing art project, created collaboratively with photographer Kevin Calixte.Through this project we celebrate the Black women in Montreal who are actively participating in positive work and the pursuit of social change in their communities.  As both gender and racial minorities, Black women are often underrepresented in many aspects of socio-economic and political life. For the Black women who engage in community work, this reality is more true as their efforts are often unseen and unrewarded. Despite this reality, these women continue to push for positive social change. The featured women are from various Black communities throughout the city,  highlighting that Black communities in Montreal are not monolithic, but rather are comprised of different cultural, linguistic, and spiritual groups.
